How does everyone feel about this? I am aware that this could start a heated discussion.. (keep nice) However --- these babies are absolutely STUNNING. I was cruising through websites in Holland and came across one of my fav stallions Tietse - he apparently is cross breeding to me the Baroq Pinto.. Can I just say how BEAUTIFUL this baby is.. he is the top picture on this website.. www.hengstenhouderij.info/What are your thoughts?

I too have been looking at them, as they are stunning! I know cross breeding is frowned upon, but it has been going on for some time in Europe, and they have had a registry for awhile. Some, are even homozygous. I would not want to see all breeds crossed, then you are less liking to produce the same results. I think the Dutch Warmbloods with the Friesian are just wonderful. There is a woman in Germany who is very knowledgable, and she has some beautiful ones! I'd get one in a minute if I thought I could sneek another horse in the barn without my husband noticing!! :-)

I was actually looking to breed my Remmelt mare to Nico, but he passed away last year. Please check out Nico here: www.nicopintostallion.com/nico.htmSo, I have always had an obsession with Knabstruppers, so I went that direction! My mare has been confirmed in foal to Colorado Skrodstrup. Check him out here: www.avalon-equine.com/Colorado_Skrodstrup.htmlThis baby will surely be a dressage horse deluxe and (fingers crossed) have some color. I will register the baby in a Friesian cross registry. I do love full-blooded Friesians, but I think there is a place in this world for the colored crosses. As long as the horse is of good quality, who cares if it is a cross?

Hi I love the Friesians but for me the friesian cross Dutchwarmblood is my favorite!! I have 4 of my own and adore them. I personal would love to see the rules changed with FHANA so that it is no longer frowned upon to cross fully approved FPS stallions with other breeds. The truth is that many of our FPS approved Friesian stallions only cover 10-20 mares a year. It makes it very hard to justify such an expensive horse or in my opinion such a special horse not being used on quality mares of whatever breed. I understand why a friesian stallion with a full book of mare like Mintse or who ever is popular for the moment shouldn't be used to cross but the others should be free to decide whats best for them. If you look here there are 11 FPS approved stallions in europe that you can get frozen semen from that will ship to other breeds for sure. I have spoken to them directlly. http://www.superiorequinesires.com/stallionroster.shtml If you don’t have time to check the list it inc, Onne 367, Harmen424 and Beart421! I think the more people that become aware that it is already going on and that it is just time to change the rules so we can all follow them.....Really the stallion owner should be open to choose if they want to cross or not........If there are no Full friesian mares wanting there services well then why not? Really would love to see this changed... Please see my horses here www.friesiansofcolor.com or like us on facebook at Friesians of Color some lovely horses for sale too here in the US also I help match with others in Netherlands as well...... I bet your Friesian x Knab will be very special too!!! Love my friesians in color!!!

I recently purchased a 10 month old baroke 2/3 Friesian 1/3 Dutch Warmblood gelding colt. Both parents are tobiano and he is the blackest black and looks very Friesian. He is the cutest thing.
